A Fun Friday Night on Sweetwater Main Street!

SWEETWATER, TN — Kyle Philippi of DoorBell Productions, with the help of Sweetwater Main Street and The City of Sweetwater, pulled off its most ambitious surprise to date on Friday, July 17th, staging a secretly rehearsed "Prince Ali" flash parade in downtown Sweetwater to surprise two DoorDash delivery drivers in the middle of their shift.

The performance brought together 85 performers traveling from seven different states, all of whom rehearsed the elaborate Aladdin number in secret ahead of the event. When the two drivers arrived on Sweetwater Main Street for what they thought was a routine delivery, they instead found themselves at the center of a full musical parade — complete with choreography, costumes, and the unmistakable fanfare of "Prince Ali." Neither driver had any idea the performance was coming, or that it was staged entirely for them.

At the conclusion of the number, DoorBell Productions and Sweetwater Main Street surprised both drivers with a combined $500 tip, thanking them for their hard work and unknowingly starring in DoorBell Productions' latest surprise.

"This was our most epic surprise yet," said Josh Issac of Sweetwater Main Street. "Pulling together the performers, several who were local to Sweetwater, arranging lodging/travel details, all while keeping it a secret, and watching these two drivers' faces when 'Prince Ali' kicked off on Main Street — was more than we imagined it could be. Mother Nature even tried to rain on our parade by sending in a massive thunderstorm and flooding rain in the hours leading up to the parade. However, things went off smoothly and it ended up being a very special night for Sweetwater."

The event required close coordination behind the scenes to keep the surprise intact, while still safely managing a large public performance in the middle of downtown.  Sweetwater Main Street is extremely grateful for the work of Josh Issac, who worked with Kyle/DoorBell Productions for a few weeks to make this happen.  Josh made initial contact with them a couple of months ago and together, they brought a successful, one-of-a-kind unique experience to downtown Sweetwater. We are also grateful to Ocoee Riverside Farm for providing the camel and monkey, who added extra magic to the parade scene.

Sweetwater Main Street especially wants to recognize the City of Sweetwater, and the Sweetwater Police Department in particular, for coordinating street and traffic closures around Sweetwater Main Street to keep performers, drivers, and onlookers safe throughout the parade.
